Arada to sponsor region’s top cultural event, Sharjah International Book Fair 2024

News: 21 August 2024

Arada has announced that it will be a major sponsor of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) 2024. The renowned 11-day event, annually hosted by the Sharjah Book Authority, is regarded as one of the region’s top cultural attractions.

SIBF is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and is the country’s largest annual event in terms of foot traffic. SIBF 2023 reported 2.17 million visitors from 112 countries, presenting 1.3 million books and over 1500 activities.

SIBF 2024 will take place from 6 to 17 November at the Sharjah Expo Centre, and the SIBF Awards 2024 will honour authors, publishers, and translators.

In addition to distinguished writers, renowned literary figures, regional speakers, and global experts, the occasion supports and celebrates Arabic literature, poetry, nonfiction, and cuisine. Visitors may expect an inspirational array of family-friendly panels in academia and culture among 400 literary activities, including readings, signings, and workshops. Additionally, numerous stalls from international and regional exhibitors will retail diverse arrays of books to interested visitors.

Arada’s role as a major sponsor will see the integration of the master developer’s recreational brands to support SIBF’s existing offerings. These include visibility for retail platform Artal during fashion and entrepreneurial workshops; healthy and engaging activities led by the Wellfit fitness club chain; and an interactive space for Shajar nursery to promote sustainability initiatives and awareness.

Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO at Arada, said, “Arada is pleased to support culture-driven initiatives in Sharjah and the UAE that connect people, communities, and ideas, and as the third-largest event of its type in the world, Sharjah International Book Fair certainly fits that profile. This year, we are looking forward to introducing the experiential essence of Arada’s brands, which will complement the SIBF’s high-quality programme to engage and inspire visitors of all ages.”

UNESCO named Sharjah the World Book Capital in 2019 and the Cultural Capital of the Arab World in 1998.
