Aljada Skate Park Ambassador Keegan Palmer scoops second Olympic gold

Australia, News: 8 August 2024

Australia’s Keegan Palmer, the official Aljada Skate Park Ambassador, has retained his Olympic title in the park skateboarding discipline at the Paris Olympics.

The 21-year-old scored 93.11 on his first run, which was enough to take him the gold medal in a fiercely competitive final.

Keegan doubled up after winning the first ever gold medal for park skateboarding at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

The world’s top park skateboarder signed a long-term partnership with Arada in 2023 to act as ambassador for the skate complex at Aljada, which he helped to design.

Keegan has since visited Aljada Skate Park a number of times, holding a series of skate clinics and competitions that have attracted thousands of skate fans.

The winner of the women’s park gold medal, Australia’s Arissa Trew, is also no stranger to Aljada Skate Park, having trained at the complex a  number of times, while also staying at the Nest student housing complex in Aljada.

Spread over six separate parks that include Olympic-level Street and Park sections complete with two 3.3m deep ends, Aljada Skate Park is the largest and most creative skate park in the region.

Last year Aljada Skate Park hosted the Street and Park World Championships, which were co-organised by global governing body World Skate and Arada. The events, which are qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, saw a record-breaking 468 skaters from around the world take part.
